The National Commission for Science and Technology(NCST) and Malawi University of Business and Applied Sciences (MUBAS) will, soon, send out a call for applications for grants to interested innovators, who have created inventions in Renewable Energy Technology (RET). The Hackathon comes under the theme Advancing Innovations in Local Manufacturing and will be conducted in response to the call made by the State President, Dr. Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera, who, at the official launch of the University Pod (UniPod), directed that NCST should fund the first experiment to be carried out at the UniPod.
The Hackathon aims to advance research and innovation and to drive tangible outcomes in the development of RET components, fostering knowledge sharing and capacity building for long term impact. Members of NCST and the UniPod recently met to finalize discussions on the hackathon, which will make a contribution towards the Malawi 2063 vision which foresees an inclusively wealthy and self-reliant industrialized upper middle income country.
