Health Research Capacity Strengthening Initiative (HRCSI) is a Programme managed by the National Commission for Science and Technology (NCST). The initiative is funded by the Department for International Development (DFID) UK and Wellcome Trust (WT). The Programme period is  2008 to October 2013.

HRCSI’s objective is  to expand and promote multidisciplinary health research in Malawi.

The program has the following four outputs:

• Enhanced institutional capacity for high quality multidisciplinary health related research studies;
• National health policies and programs formulated using research findings;
• Scientific knowledge more effectively shared across national and international organizations and knowledge networks;
• and Improved regulation and coordination of the national research environment.
