Health, Social Sciences and Humanities
This is one of the sections within the Department of Research and Technology Transfer. In tandem with the mission of the NCST, this section is responsible for promoting, supporting, co-ordinating and regulating science, technology and innovation programmes in the health, social sciences and humanities sectors. It is a strategic section that is a conduit for supporting the determinants of R&D in the health, social sciences and humanities. The section is a secretariat of the three NCST functional technical committees, namely; National Health Sciences Research Committee, National Committee on Bioethics and National Committee on Research in the Social Sciences and Humanities. These committees are tenets for carrying out the sectional responsibility and programmes. The programmes and activities of the section are demand-driven and are prioritised from time to time. Presently, the section has focussed its effort on the following programmatic areas of direct action and oversight;

• Promotion, Co-ordination and Regulation of Research in the Social Sciences and Humanities;

• Promotion of the Ethics of Research, Science and Technology; and

• Periodic Development and Review of Research Priorities in Health and Social Sciences
