Catherine Chaweza (Mrs)

Catherine Alinane Chaweza is the Chief Information, Education and Communications Officer for the National Commission for Science and Technology and the Country Communications and Outreach Coordinator for the Programme for Biosafety Systems(PBS), a project being housed in the National Commission for Science and Technology. A teacher by training, Catherine has worked in the mainstream media as Producer and Presenter for the Malawi Broadcasting Corporation and has for the past 11 years worked in the field of Communication and knowledge management.

She holds a Master of Arts Degree in Media, Peace and Conflict Studies from the United Nations Mandated University for Peace in Costa Rica on top of the Bachelor of Education degree from Chancellor College of the University of Malawi.

The main responsibility of her current office is to create public awareness and understanding of Science, Technology and Innovation issues in the country and to generate awareness, support and commitment in the advancement of Science, Technology and Innovations at the national level. She was responsible for drafting the Communication’s Strategy for the Commission. Her main interests are in Communication, media training, strategic Information and knowledge management.
