The TWAS-DFG Cooperation Visits Programme provides postdoctoral researchers who have obtained their PhD not earlier than 2012 and are from sub-Saharan Africa, including South Africa, with the opportunity to make a ‘Cooperation Visit’ to an institute in Germany. NCST under the facilitation of COMESA and the Malawi Investment and Trade Centre, signed an MOU with the Egypt’s’ Bahgat Group of Companies in April, 2016. The MOU intends to establish a platform of cooperation in the fields of research and development, innovation and technology specifically in the areas of Biotechnology, Nanotechnology, Household Appliance, Human Capacity Development, Exchange of Scientific Knowledge, Technology Development and Transfer among others. The Inception meeting and NeedFinding workshop attracted participants from the following SGCs: Burkina Faso, Ghana, Malawi, Namibia, Uganda, Senegal, Zambia and Zimbabwe. Resource persons came from the following institutions: African Union Commission, New Partnership for Africa’s Development (NEPAD) Agency, United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (ECA), and SARIMA.
