SARIMA CAPACITATES NCST

The National Commission for Science and Technology (NCST) hosted a team from
the Southern African Research and Innovation Management Association (SARIMA)
for a Technical Assistance Visit (TAV) from 2 nd -4 th June 2025. The visit was
undertaken against the background of the Science Granting Councils Initiative
(SGCI) project entitled “Strengthening the Practices and Resilience of Science
Granting Councils in Sub-Saharan Africa in Research and Grants Management”
which SARIMA is currently implementing. Through this project, SARIMA provides in
country technical support in areas of research management.

The TAV capacitated NCST staff in the following areas as identified by NCST staff;
organization and delivery of a research management service, research planning,
strategy and policy, partnerships and collaboration, research funding, managing
funded research, research management professionalization and research uptake,
utilization and impact. During the sessions, NCST shared how they are implementing
research and innovation management activities with the team from SARIMA. The
NCST is grateful to SARIMA for the technical support provided during the TAV and
for their continued support to the Commission in areas of research and innovation
management.
