Procedures and Guidelines for the conduct of Research in Energy Industry Engineering: to promote, support, coordinate, and regulate research and development in the fields of energy, mining, engineering, industry, manufacturing, transportation, housing, and other physical infrastructure
Research Agenda in Energy, Industry & Engineering:represents nationally set and agreed priorities in Energy, Industry and Engineering in which research efforts for Malawi will be concentrated over the next five years.
Policy Measures for the Improvement of Health Research Co-ordination in Malawi (NOVEMBER,2012): The policy is for objectively managing and addressing the co-ordinatory and regulatory complexities, challenges and difficulties that have evolved over the years for the benefits of the research participants, researchers and other stakeholders planning to conduct health/biomedical research in Malawi. The policy provides a thematic set of measures and requirements at a national level that are required to be adhered to by all stakeholders without let or hindrance. The specific measures and requirements are in the following thematic sections: Structural Relationship of the National Commission for Science and Technology, National Health Sciences Research Committee (NHSRC) and College of Medicine Research and Ethics Committee (COMREC) while clearly describing the respective revised jurisdictions of NHSRC and COMREC; Membership for NHSRC and COMREC; Management of Conflict of Interest; Review and Approval of National Interest Studies; Review and Approval of Multi-Centre Studies; Submission of Protocol for Review by the Drug Regulatory Authority; Validity of the Ethical and Regulatory Approval; and Regulating the Operations of Research Projects, Units and Institutions Established in Malawi.
The Framework of Guidelines for Research in the Social Sciences and Humanities in Malawi: The purpose of the framework is to provide individuals and institutions with guidelines for making ethical choices in the conduct of social sciences and humanities research in Malawi. Its aim is to enable the social and humanities researchers make individual ethical judgments and decisions informed by shared ethics, principles, values and experiences that are not imposed by their professions.

Do not submit the proposal, unless you have provided a tick in all the boxes. Incomplete submissions will not be processed.
Malawi National Health Research Agenda 2012-2016: The overall goal of the NHRA is to guide researchers, policy makers, program implementers, academic institutions, health development partners and other stakeholders on health research priorities for Malawi. The National Health Research Agenda represents nationally set and agreed priorities in which research efforts for Malawi will be concentrated over the next five years. The National Health Research Agenda represents the Government of Malawi policy need and interest for research to be carried out in the identified priority areas. Research in the identified priorities is geared towards obtaining evidence which is much needed for policy and decision making. Government of Malawi expects all cadres of stakeholders to support the implementation of this National Health Research Agenda.
Finance and Audit Committee Charter: The Finance and Audit Committee Charter defines the relationships between the FAC, NCST Board of Commissioners, other Committees of the Board and the Secretariat. The FAC Charter is part of NCST corporate governance framework. It provides the structure through which the Board (through the FAC) is able to provide financial and risk management oversight to NCST in order to achieve the NCST mandate under the Act. The Charter establishes the authority and responsibility of the FAC so that it may function effectively and efficiently.
HRCSI Internal Audit Charter: Internal Audit Charter defines the relationships between IAF, Finance and Audit Committee and management. NCST has adopted a risk based audit process which directs the IAF to address strategic, operational, finance and sustainability issues in its quest to deliver value to the Organisation.
HRCSI Procurement Manual: Procurement can be defined as the purchase of goods or services at the optimum possible total cost in the correct quantity and quality. These good and services are also purchased at the correct time and location for the benefit or use by the HRCSI program. This procurement manual provides guidelines that are to be used by HRCSI as a guide in procurement of goods and services. The manual details the policies and procedures relating to procurement of goods and services for the HRCSI program. It also highlights key risks and controls pertaining to procurement.
HRCSI Program Risk Management Policy: NCST Management; and the Health Research Capacity Strengthening Initiative, Program Manager have idenitified that there is a strong link between effective risk management and the achievement of HRCSI’s Vision, Overall Purpose and Long Term Aim. To ensure a coordinated and structured way of identifying and managing risks impacting on HRCSI, the Board, Management and Program Manager have established the Health Research Capacity Strengthening Initiative Programme Risk Management (PRM) Policy.

Malawi is endowed with rich biological diversity and genetic resources with great potential to provide diverse chemicals, enzymes and genes. These resources, if used properly and in a sustainable manner, can contribute to the socio-economic development of the country. The uses for these resources can vary from plant extracts for herbal products, naturally occurring enzymes in industrial manufacturing to organic molecules used to design new pharmaceutical drugs. They can also be used as a source of diverse genes in the breeding of crop and animal varieties with high performance.
