NCST under the facilitation of COMESA and the Malawi Investment and Trade Centre, signed an MOU with the Egypt’s’ Bahgat Group of Companies in April, 2016.
The MOU intends to establish a platform of cooperation in the fields of research and development, innovation and technology specifically in the areas of Biotechnology, Nanotechnology, Household Appliance, Human Capacity Development, Exchange of Scientific Knowledge, Technology Development and Transfer among others.
Out of the fifteen applications that were received, NCST selected the three students namely: Marwell Gomezgani Nyirenda LUANAR; Mercy Mposa from MUST and Patricia Namate from Chancellor College based on merit of their educational qualification which is a Bachelor of Science Degree majoring in Chemistry or Biology with credit and age of less than 30 as per the Baghart’s Group requirements.
The students are expected to travel to Egypt on 30 October, 2016 to start work on 1st November, 2016. The students will initially be introduced to the Basics of Nanotechnology, after which they will be re- evaluated and the promising candidates will stay for another two months where they will be assigned to specific projects.
